This entirely handmade wooden wall hanging comes at about 8 inches in total length.
One of my favorite women to create. she represents femininity, protection from evil, and is a powerful symbol for sexual assault victims. I’ve always felt a strong connection to her story, as she was taken advantage of and victim blamed for her own assault. Within Athena’s temple Medusa was attacked by Poseidon. Some say Athena made her she a gorgon to protect herself from future attacks, by turning those who looked upon her to stone. Others say she was punished for her own assault, and cursed to live as a Gorgon. Either side of the coin, both represent present day situations with what sexual assault victims go through.
I hope whoever owns this piece connects with it in the way that I have, and that she may continue to be a symbol of divine feminine power
